Introduction

Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) is a Vietnam-based financial institution. The Bank provides consumer and corporate commercial banking services, including deposits, corporate and consumer lending, as well as trade financing. It is also involved in capital and money markets at interbank level, along with treasury activities, commodities financing and international clearing and settlement. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, the Bank provides investment banking services, such as securities brokerage, custody and underwriting services, along with corporate advisory services. Other activities include gold bar manufacturing and asset management. As of December 31, 2010, the Bank had four wholly owned subsidiaries and two affiliates.

  • Asia Commercial Joint-Stock Bank (ACB) was established under the Permit No. 0032/NH-GP dated  April 24, 1993 by the State Bank of Vietnam and Establishment Permit No. 533/GP-UB dated May  13, 1993 by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. ACB started operations on 04 June 1993.
  • In 1994, charter capital was adjusted to VND 70 billions 
  • In 1996: charter capital was adjusted to VND 341 billions 
  • In 2000, ACB Securities (ACBS) was established
  • In 2004, charter capital was adjusted to VND 481.138billions 
  • In 2005: Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) signed an agreement with ACB on a comprehensive technical assistance, and became ACB’s strategic shareholder. Charter capital was adjusted several times in 2005 and by Aug 23, 2005, it was VND 948.316 billions 
  • In 2006, ACB stocks were listed on Hanoi Securities Trading Center. On Feb 14th 2006:, charter  capital was adjusted to VND 1100.046560 billions. 
  • In 2007, ACB strongly expanded the branch network, with 31 new branches and sub-branches and set up ACB Leasing Company. Also, ACB succeeded in the issuance of 10 million shares worth VND 100 billion par value with proceeds of over VND 1,800 billion
  • As of Oct 8, 2008, ACB chartered capital was increased to VND 4,651,615 billion. The total nationwide branches and sub-branches have reached a number of 178.
  • According to the 21th adjustment of its business registration certificate on Dec 12, 2010, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 9.376.965.060.000 via isuing shares for existing shareholders.
