Central Hydropower Joint Stock Company is a Vietnam-based electricity generating company. Its primary business is to operate, manage, and maintain hydropower plants. Currently the company is conducting A Luoi hydropower project with capacity of 170MW (2x85MW) and annual electricity output of 686,5 million kWh, the Unit No.1 of the A Luoi hydropower project is expected to generate electricity to the national power grid at the fourth quarter of 2011. The company also engages in property sector, afforestation and eco-tourism. By the end of 2011, the company would be still in the stage of conducting projects and would not generate turnover, profit and dividend.

Central Hydropower Joint Stock Company ( or CHP in abbreviation) was established according to the Consortium Contract No.5852CP/DL2-DL3-XLD1-DLHN/2004 dated November 30th, 2004 between the four companies: Power Company No.2 (contributing 30% of the charter capital), Power Company No.3 (contributing 30% of the charter capital), Hanoi Power Company (contributing 20% of the charter capital) and Power Construction Company No.1 (contributing 20% of the charter capital). The total charter capital was 500 billion VND.
On Nov 24, 2005, the Shareholders' Meeting allowed Power Construction Company No.1 to withdraw from the position of a founding shareholder according to the Resolution No.01/2005-CP/DHDCDSL. Simultaneously, the shareholders allowed Electricity of Vietnam to become a founding shareholder from Mar 18th, 2006 according to the Resolution No.01/2006-CP/DHDCDSL (contributing 20% of the charter capital).
In order to carry out hydro power projects of the company, the Shareholders' Meeting on Dec 22th, 2006 decided to increase the charter capital to 1.200 billion VND.
CHP is a independent posting company operating according to business registration certificate No. 3203000503 issued for first time by the Planning and Investment Department of Danang City on Dec 13, 2004 and adjusted on Mar 14th, 2007
On Mar 29, 2010, Ha Noi Stock Exchange officially admitted the trading registration of CHP on UPCoM
From Sep 29, 2016, the company listed its shares on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
On June 03, 2015, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 1.259.995.110.000.
