Introduction

Saigon Machinery Spare Parts Joint Stock Company (Saigon Machinco) is a Vietnam-based company engaged in the import, export and trading of various types of goods. It imports industrial machinery, equipment and supplies, automobile and motorcycle spare parts, metals and construction machinery for sale in domestic market. The Company also trades and distributes cement, as well as exploits and markets stones. It is involved in the processing and export of food products, such as peanuts, coffee, cheese, dried bananas, pickled cucumbers, dried fish and others, along with lumber export. Other activities include the construction of apartment and nonresidential buildings, and the operation of Dakglun Hydropower Plant.

Saigon Machinery Spare Parts Joint Stock Company was previously known as the state-owned Southern Mechanical Company found in 1974 under the Southern Technical Equipment Division.
In Dec 1975, the Southern Technical Equipment Division was divided into the Southern Metal Company and the Southern Machinery Spare Part Company.
In Jul 1976, the Southern Machinery Spare Part Company was renamed to Machinery Spare Part Area II Company.
In 1985, the company was renamed to Machinery Spare Part Company of Ho Chi Minh City.
In Sep 2003, it was put under the management of the Ministry of Trade.
In Jan 2005, Machinery Spare Part Company of Ho Chi Minh City was transformed into Saigon Machinery Spare Part Joint Stock Company.
On Mar 01, 2005, Saigon Machinery Spare Part Company officially came into operation under business registration certificate No. 4103003152 issued by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment. Its initial charter capital was VND 11 billion.
Under Resolution of the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly of Shareholders dated Sep 30, 2005, the company's charter capital was adjusted to VND 65 billion.
On March 2008, charter capital was adjusted to VND 80.6 billion.
On Sep 11, 2010, the company was officially approved to list its shares on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (Stock code: SMA, registered volume: 8.060.000 shares). The first trading date was on Oct 19, 2010.
In 2012, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 161.200.000.000 via converting from bond to shares.
