Market commentary

EQUITY MARKET

The VN-Index gained over 33 points (+1.97%) to close at 1,733.02. Market breadth skewed positive, with 16 out of 18 sectors advancing, led by information technology, financial services, and industrial goods & services. The rally was supported by positive macro developments: (1) the SBV signaled efforts to stabilize interbank liquidity through FX swaps; and (2) expectations that Democrats could gain control of Congress in the U.S. midterm elections, potentially curbing President Trump's highly expansionary fiscal policies and easing inflationary and interest-rate pressures. Technically, a long bullish candlestick with improved liquidity confirmed a rebound above SMA20. The index may extend gains toward SMA10 resistance at 1,747 points, followed by SMA50 at 1,771 points. However, with the index closing only marginally above SMA20, its ability to hold this level remains crucial to sustaining the recovery.
