BSC Brief | 28.10: VN-Index fails to fill the gap, with downside risks still lingering

EQUITY MARKET

The VN-Index fluctuated within a range of 1,753.95–1,767.48 points today before closing at 1,766.65, gaining nearly 5 points from the previous session. Market breadth was relatively balanced, with 9 out of 18 sectors posting gains, led by Insurance, which rose over 2%. Conversely, Information Technology declined by more than 2%, while the remaining sectors saw no significant movements. Regarding foreign trading activity, foreign investors were net sellers on the HSX but net buyers on both the HNX and UPCOM. The VN-Index has now fallen below the lower boundary of the upward gap at 1,768–1,778 points. In the short term, the index may remain under corrective pressure and retest the support level around 1,735 points.

FUTURES

VN30F2M and VN30F2Q futures contracts declined, while the remaining VN30 futures contracts rose in line with the VN30 Index.

On October 28, 2026, covered warrants fluctuated in line with choppy trading in their underlying stocks.

• VN-Index +4.78 pts, closing at 1,766.65. HNX-Index +0.36 pts, closing at 259.86. UPCoM-Index -0.35 pts, closing at 125.74.
• Top positive contributors: VCB (+2.42), VIC (+1.28), HDB (+1.14), VPL (+0.70), VPB (+0.62).
• Top negative contributors: GAS (-0.60), FPT (-0.55), HPG (-0.44), LPS (-0.26), VJC (-0.22).
• VN-Index matched value reached VND 12,200 bn, up 18.84% from the previous session and 1.2% below the 20-session average. Total trading value was VND 15,320 bn.
• Intraday range: 13.5 pts. HOSE had 122 advancers (3 at the ceiling), 107 unchanged and 173 decliners (2 at the floor).
• Foreign investors were net sellers of VND -267.40 bn on HOSE, led by FPT (-259.99 bn), VPL (-118.11 bn), GMD (-42.88 bn), VNM (-35.06 bn), STB (-34.29 bn). This marks 4 consecutive sessions of net selling; year-to-date net selling on HOSE totals VND -120,812 bn.
• Foreign investors were net buyers of VND +15.43 bn on HNX and net buyers of VND +0.25 bn on UPCoM.
