BSC Brief | 15.08: VN-Index pulls back after sharp rally

MARKET OUTLOOK
The VN-Index extended its gains at the open; however, profit-taking pressure around the 1,665 level pulled the index down to around 1,620 before closing at 1,630, down nearly 11 points from yesterday. Market breadth tilted negative, with 11 out of 18 sectors declining, led by Media, followed by Automobiles & Auto Parts. On the upside, Oil & Gas was the top gainer, followed by Insurance. Foreign investors continued net selling across all three exchanges today, with heavy net sales of around VND 3 trillion on the HSX. The recent rally has stalled, and in the short term, the VN-Index may consolidate above the 1,630 level.

• Pulling the index up: VJC (+1.27), BSR (+1.21), MBB (+0.96), VIX (+0.87), EIB (+0.65).
• Pulling the index down: BID (-1.86), VCB (-1.75), CTG (-1.49), TCB (-1.31), LPB (-0.82).
• The matched trade value of VN-Index reached VND 57,510 billion, increased 13.05% compared to the previous session. The total transaction value reached VND 59,694 billion.
• The trading range is 51.28 points. The market had 84 gainers, 37 remaining unchanged, 261 losers.
• Foreign investors' net selling value: VND -3012.63 billion on HOSE, including HPG (VND -700.14 billion), FPT (VND -507.65 billion), MBB (VND -493.93 billion), VPB (VND -279.95 billion), VCB (VND -222.06 billion). Foreign investors were net sellers on HNX with the value of VND -31.26 billion.
